From 8th – 12th November 2021 it’s Tomorrow’s Engineers Week. So, we’re joining the #LottieTour with the Women’s Engineering Society (WES) to showcase what it means to be an engineer at Direct Air – for her second day Lottie was with the Pipework & Installation Engineers!

Leading on from Lottie’s day in the projects office at the beginning of the week, it’s now time to look at her Tuesday adventures and she’s getting an insight into how the Project Engineers plans transform into a vital asset for the Installation Engineers…

 

Pipework & Installation Engineers Pre-Site Preparation…

Pipework & Installations Engineers work on everything from updating existing pipework systems such as extensions to carrying out complete turnkey installations – they’ve got all the skills!

Here we can see Lottie in the left image studying some drawings that the Project Engineers provided on Monday for the Pipework & Installation Engineers – this will help them construct the system efficiently.

In the right photo, Lottie is sat amongst some pipework components. Here she was in the Direct Air warehouse helping the Pipework & Installation Engineers with assembling some sections of pipework before attending the customer site. Using the drawings supplied by projects, this process works brilliantly for customers who have limited site access and we’re one of few providers with the ability to do this for our customers in our workshop space.

You’ll also see Lottie is dressed in her full PPE here, as health & safety is top of the list for these Engineers. The engineers in our installation team hold Safety Passports, CSCS certificates and IPAF licences. We also have engineers with SSSTS, IOSH and NEBOSH registration. We’re proud that we currently have 3 of our very our Direct Air Pipework & Installation Engineers including Jon Harrison, Tom Somers and Mark Foster.
